You will never appear to have overdressed or underdressed.

The dress code for guys, suit pants, a white dress shirt with a sports jacket and tie. If you arrive in the hall and the Sweet 16 party looks more proper than you expected, you are wearing the perfect clothes. And if the Sweet Sixteen is more semi-formal, with a tie-off, you have the perfect semi-formal outfit.

The dress code for ladies, for semi-formal events, choose a dress that is knee-length and features simple patterns like a cocktail dress. Single color or cute floral pattern will be the most appropriate choice for these types of gatherings. You may feel a bit out of place if you're a close family member of the birthday girl. It may be an issue in ceremonies or group photos. Just check with the mother of the birthday girl, and see what the other close family members are wearing.

Formal

All parents and immediate family members will dress very properly for any type of Sweet Sixteen party no matter if the event is formal or informal. From my personal experience, I've seen 70% of attendees dressing up for these types of Sweet 16, so if you can't be creative and dress in a costume then just wear something informal or proper.

Be comfortable!

Wear to a sweet sixteen something that it's comfortable. A Sweet Sixteen party can last up to 5 hours. Ladies bring some comfortable flat shoes in a bag so that after 3 hours of dancing, and all sorts of activities, so walking around barefooted without heels can be avoided! bring some flat shoes and give your feet a rest! The more you enjoy the event, the better memories you will have.
